THE COUNCIL PROVIDES AWARENESS FOR SECONDARY STUDENTS' CLUBS
As we head to the commemoration of International Civil Aviation Day (ICAD) on December 7, 2024, the Council provided awareness and education on the rights and responsibilities of Air Transport Service Users to over 300 Secondary School students in Dar es Salaam.
The Council in collaboration with the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), held various awareness sessions to students from Kibasila, Jangwani Girls, Makongo, and Kwembe secondary schools. The initiative aimed to enhance their understanding of various aspects of air transport.
“This awareness is part of the commemoration for International Civil Aviation Day, which culminates on December 7,” said Ms. Debora Mligo, Senior Officer for Education and Advocacy (TCAA-CCC), adding, “We hope these students will become good ambassadors, and this initiative will be extended to other secondary schools in the regions.”
Students were informed about various opportunities available in the aviation sector.
“There are many opportunities in the air transport services market, therefore focus more on science and language studies to fill the gaps currently present,” said Ms. Euphrasia Bille, Chief Officer for Economic Regulation and Business (TCAA).
She emphasized, “We have a significant shortage of local experts, particularly women, in various aviation professions. We need aircraft engineers, pilots, and other specialists to drive this sector forward.”
Mr. Anselim Mashimba, a teacher and caretaker of TCAA-CCC Student Club at Kwembe Secondary School, noted that the education provided inspired students to pursue science studies.
“The students were highly motivated and gained enthusiasm after learning about the opportunities available in the air transport services market. Even those without initial ambitions in this sector have been encouraged to excel in their studies and achieve their dreams,” said Mr. Mashimba.
The commemorations of International Civil Aviation Day is celebrated annually on December 7. This day was established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), of which Tanzania is a member state.
