THE COUNCIL PARTICIPATES IN 58TH FACILITATION CONSULTATIVE MEETING IN TANGA


The Council (TCAA-CCC) participated in the 58th Meeting of the National Consultative Committee on Facilitation of Air Transport that was held in Tanga from 18th to 20 November 2025. The session was inaugurated by the Tanga Regional Commissioner, Hon. Ambassador Dr. Batilda Buriani who highlighted various opportunities existing in Tanga Region including the Mkomazi National Park.
Hon. Dr. Buriani advised airlines service providers to start flying to Mombo Airport which has been built since 1932 in order to utilize the untapped market of tourist who travels between Tanga, Arusha and Zanzibar respectively.

In addition, Ambassador Dr. Buriani explained the presence of the Military School of Air Defense in Tanga region while emphasizing that successful aviation sector depends on the national’s peace and tranquillity.

In the meantime, the Director General for Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), Mr. Salim Msangi, revealed that there has been an increase in the level of user satisfaction with the provision of services (Customer Satisfaction Survey) at Airports in the country from 70.4 percent in 2023/2024 to 86.4 percent in 2024/2025.

The Committee had the opportunity to visit the Tanga Airport where the members were informed about the commencement of preliminary preparations for the Construction of Tanga Airport, including the construction of Contractor houses.
The construction, which will cost TZS 78.7Billion, is being implemented by the contractor, Beijing Construction Engineering Company Ltd and is expected to be completed within 18 months.

This will include; the construction of a passenger building, a control tower, two runways, a fire station, a weather building and a car parking area.

TCAA CCC is a member of the National Consultative Committee on Facilitation of Air Transport, representing users of Aviation services across the country.
